Who we are
A Revolting Class is a working-class led organisation. We build political education, organiser development and networks for people at the sharpest edge of exploitation who are rarely at the centre of the movements claiming to fight it. We came together in 2024 and have been running since, delivering weekend workshops on class across the country, online courses, and developing a training programme for working-class organisers. We work slowly and with long term intent. Most of what’s wrong with organising in this country isn’t a shortage of good ideas, it’s that the people with the most reason to fight get used up and pushed out before they’ve had a chance to build anything.
Who we’re looking for
People whose political work puts class at the centre, and who hold it without dogma. We’re not after a settled position on what class is. We’d rather find people who know there are several frameworks worth taking seriously, who can move between them, and who are more interested in what each one shows you than in defending one against the rest. You don’t need theory, qualifications, or the right vocabulary. Our whole argument is that working-class people aren’t short of political knowledge, they’re short of the conditions to develop and sustain it. What we do need is someone who’ll be wrong out loud in front of other people, who’s still around when things get difficult rather than when they’re exciting, who can sit in a room that’s got tense without either needing to win or quietly disappearing, and who’ll tell us early when their hours have gone rather than going quiet for three months.
What we offer
A monthly stipend of £320 a month. A mentor for twelve months, with development goals you set together and a monthly conversation about how the work’s actually going. A buddy for your first six months, so there’s someone to ask the small questions. Facilitation and organiser training. Political education with other members. A collective fund any member can take from, no conditions and no explanation needed. Travel covered. Real responsibility from early on, not once you’ve proved yourself.
What we expect
That you tell us how many hours you can give, and tell us when that changes. Those hours include meetings and reading, not just the visible work. One monthly one-to-one with your mentor and one monthly group meeting. A working group, once you’ve found your feet. A willingness to disagree with us, including about our politics, and to be disagreed with. Nobody’s going to chase you, but we do notice, and we will ask.
How to apply
Fill in the expression of interest form by the end of December. It asks about your class position, what you’re already organising, how many hours you can realistically give, and what you want to develop. After that there’s a conversation with one of us, and if it goes ahead on both sides, a trial period. That runs both ways: it’s as much about you working out whether we’re right for you as the other way round. Expression of interest form
